Biden's Silly Whoppers Are One Thing, His False Claims About Economic Data Are Quite Another

It's long been established fact that throughout Joe Biden's 52 years in government, he has stretched the truth, told tall tales, plagiarized speeches, and bald-faced lied about his own "successes" — and failures.

Joe being Joe? Perhaps.

For example, claims that his eldest son Beau Biden died in Iraq (he died at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, due to a recurrence of brain cancer), that he (Joe) drove an 18-wheeler, and that he "got arrested" defending the Civil Rights Movement, all speak of Barney Fife-like faux braggadocio from a man who has never lived up to his preconceived image of himself.

But in the heat of a bitterly fought presidential campaign, with much on the line, this failed president continues to misrepresent facts — economic facts in particular — which continues to raise concerns, especially when the likes of CNN, MSNBC, and the so-called "mainstream" media continue to refuse to call him out on his blatant misstatements. For example:

Biden Claimed Inflation Was 9 Percent When He Took Office – Not Even Close

As we reported on May 9, Biden told CNN's Erin Burnett that inflation stood at 9 percent when he assumed the presidency from Donald Trump in January 2021. Wrong. It was 1.4 percent.

Yet, as we reported earlier on Thursday, even CNN has now called out Biden on that false claim.

Biden Said Gas Was 'Over Five Dollars' When He Took Office – It Was Less Than Half

Total nonsense:

"The most common price of gas in America is $3.39, down from over five dollars when I took office," Biden said [in October, 2022], "We need to keep making that progress by having energy companies bring down the cost of a gallon of gas that reflects the cost of paying for a barrel of oil."

However, the national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline in the week ending Jan. 25, 2021, shortly after Biden took office, was $2.39, according to data from the Energy Information Administration. The average price for a gallon of regular gasoline didn't hit $5 until June 2022, which is well over a year after Biden took office.

It gets even worse.

'I Cut the Deficit by $1.7 Trillion in Two Years – More Than Any President on Record'

Please. Check out the "added context."

Even the Washington Post wrote at the time: "Biden’s misleading deficit claim earns him a Bottomless Pinocchio."

[H]e he keeps saying it over and over. By our count, at least 30 times since June he’s taken credit for reducing the budget deficit by $1.7 trillion.

Here’s the rub: The Congressional Budget Office, the official scorekeeper, in February 2021 already estimated the budget deficit would fall dramatically in fiscal 2021 and 2022 because emergency pandemic spending would lapse. 

The combined 2021 and 2022 budget deficits were projected by the CBO in 2021 to be $3.31 trillion. In November, the CBO said the combined deficits were in fact $4.15 trillion.

All told, in those two years Biden increased the national debt about $850 billion more than originally projected.

We could go on, but these examples of continuing misrepresentations of reality strike at not only Bidenomics and the devastating impact in continues to have on untold numbers of hardworking Americans, but also at the core of a very flawed man.

But, hey — if you're "Joey from Scranton," you just try to lie your way out of the truth and hope for the best. You know, just like Joey has continually done with his silly "Corn Pop" and Amtrak conductor stories.
